And so, I was surprised to see him haunting the corridors, even if it was still early in the evening. But beyond the surprise, I always felt a little happy pinch where I guess my heart is supposed to be every time I heard him calling my name. After months of intense search and despair, feeling like I let down Kelly in ways that I couldn't fathom, he was finally back home. Even if, lately, it didn't really feel like home anymore. It's such a strange concept, “home.” Something that took me a long time to fully grasp. All my time on Earth, I sought something I could never find. To say that I was searching for my place in this world is an understatement. Before… Before Dean, who I was existed within th...

Lessons for Jack: Wrath vs. hate

I was deeply moved by the penultimate (yes, I know, no one says "penultimate") episode of Season 13, "Exodus." There were far worse places to be spending eternity. The roadhouse was quiet now... and smelled exactly the same. Dean smiled a wry smile and took another sip of beer. He heard the bell over the door ring, and in walked Chuck -- worn jeans, Converses and a raglan T. Dean raised his can in greeting. "Chuck! Love what you've done with the place." Chuck regarded him with a sad smile and slid onto the stool next to Dean's. "How you holding up, Dean?" Dean looked sidelong at God and laughed, admittedly a little angry, with a side of bitter. ...
